Our Story

Welcome to Galway Volleyball club in association with Tribes Volleyball Centre.

Recently we brought the under 22's Irish National teams to Cardiff and played in the Common Wealth Cup Beach Volleyball 2022.  We are delighted to have brought home BRONZE in both the Women and Mens competition.  We also were awarded the Youth Development Award 2021/2022 by Volleyball Ireland at the Awards in Dublin this year.

Since taking over Galway Volleyball Club in 2017 - Lee our head coach from Tribes Volleyball centre is Volleyball Ireland's Regional Development Officer and Junior Beach Volley ball head coach for the West of Ireland.  Over the last 5 years this club has worked closely with Volleyball Ireland, Galway Sports Partnership, local schools and communities to provide a safe, fun environment for all ages.   In order to achieve this, as a club we trained in the highest coaching achilleate in Ireland and are certified in tier 3 Coach Development Programme and levels 1-3 Safeguarding to protect our youth.

Having played and coached competitively in both South Africa and New Zealand we have brought Volleyball as PE and afterschool to 5 Primary and Secondary Schools, we have a mens premier league team (formerly PVG), a womens division 1 team, a weekly recreation/social club, and a youth development programme.

My aim is to grow volleyball by having a sustainable club where children and adults can play both recreationally and competitively in a fun, friendly, educational and active setting.  During the winter we run our indoor sessions at St Marys College, St Marys Road Galway.  During the summer we run outdoor beach volleyball sessions at NUIG grounds in Dangan.

Training Fees

Galway Volleyball Club was established when players from the Galway Girls team, based in Loughrea joined forces with the NUIG student team in 2012.  We secured promotion to the premier league in our first year, which was a huge achievement.  We also won the intermediate championship in that very successful first season (2012/13).  We won 2 All Stars in our first season in the premier league (Katerina Axaopoulou and Amanda Mallard).  In our second year in the premier league we won the Association Cup in 2014/15.  We won the Association Shield final in 2015/2016 along with an All Star for Lucie Ruzickova.  We did the double (premier league and association cup) in 2016/17 along with 3 All stars for Hana Novackova, Giulia Triellin with Lucie winning her second.  We won the Association Shield in 2017/18 along with 2 All stars for Ivana Dogan with Katerina winning her second.  Florita Dolly & Olivia Molloy
